Fall Camping

1. Baxter State Park

All sites have natural water sources and none have spigots. All water should be treated. This is a wilderness area. No cooking or sleeping supplies are available for purchase within the park. There are no showers, only outhouses. You must check-in at the gate no later than 8:30 p.m. on your first night of camping.

2. Sandy Pines Campground

Camping at Sandy Pines Campground offers a relaxing respite in a tranquil part of coastal Kennebunkport. Tucked into a secluded beach forest, bordered by a salt marsh, the setting is enhanced by ocean views and salty breezes. Minutes from Goose Rocks Beach and Dock Square, this Maine campground is the ideal summer vacation destination for those who want to get back to nature.

With an array of amenities, family-friendly activities, spacious grounds and its location just one mile from Kennebunkport’s most stunning beach, this is camping at its best. Stay for a few nights or make this your summer home – either way, you’ll create lifelong memories and truly enjoy “the Maine camping experience.”

3. Aroostook State Park

Aroostook State Park bears the distinct honor of being Maine’s first state park. In 1938 interested citizens of Presque Isle donated 100 acres of land to the state of Maine, and following that gesture, the park became reality in 1939. Today the park totals nearly 800 acres thanks to subsequent donations and purchases.

4. Deer Farm Camps & Campgrounds

Deer Farm Camps & Campground is cradled in Maine’s western mountains, far from the hustle and bustle of city living.

Spend your time hiking the abandoned logging roads in the adjacent wilderness or plan a more extensive trek up one of the local peaks. Only 20 minutes from the Appalachian Trail, Deer Farm Camps & Campground provides a welcoming home base from which to explore the local countryside. Those who prefer boating, fishing and swimming will enjoy beautiful Tuft’s Pond, one of the three mountain lakes within walking distance of your campsite. The surrounding forest is also home to abundant wildlife: deer, moose, black bear, fox, rabbits and an exhilarating number of birds provide the perfect diversion for the wildlife enthusiast.
